Things to do in Burnham Market

Burnham Market has everything you need whilst you’re enjoying your stay in North Norfolk. Here are our recommendations. We’ve linked as many as we can so you can find out further information on each of the recommendations. There is so much to do here, there is more than this list for you to explore. If you find anything you love, let us know and we can add it to our list.

Groceries

If you’re after some local bits then you can visit the Burnham Market Stores which is a great all round store , Humble Pie Delicatessen has some beautiful produce and also does a great take away bite and coffee, Gurneys Fish Shop is the place to go to pick up fresh fist and likewise Arthur Howell butchers for meat and produce. You won’t regret stopping in at Satchells Wine and a bottle of this champagne is our personal favourite. Both great for baked goods and other items are No. Thirty3 The Bakery and the Tuscan Farm Shop. There is also a shop within the local garage and a Post Office and store.

Eating out

A holiday wouldn’t be a holiday without some fantastic places to eat out. The Hoste has been in Burnham for many years and one thing we personally love when visiting with children is that their evening menu starts quite early. Our favourite is cosying up in the bar in the winter when the wood burner is fired up. Somewhere we think is extremely special is Socius. We have eaten here many times but have been caught out as you usually need to book in advance as its exceptionally busy. Another great place for a meal is No. 29 Bar & Restaurant.

If you’re looking for more of a cafe vibe then we can recommend the Burnhams Tea Room and Cafe, and Tilly’s Cafe. If you’re looking for a sweet treat then you need to be at Mables.

If you’d like to stay home, but rather not cook then you can get a takeaway from Panda Kitchen and it wouldn’t be a trip to North Norfolk without fish and chips, The Mermaid. The fish and chip shop and Panda Kitchen are almost next door to each other which is super handy if your party fancy different things on the same night!

Shopping

There are so many wonderful shops in Burnham Market, you can be mooching for hours. If you’re looking for home and or gifts, our favourite is Barefoot Living. There is also Norfolk Living, Foras, Lime Green, Grapevine Gallery and the Fairfax Gallery.

If you’re more in to fashion, Anna is a real find for clothing. There is also a Joules and a Jack Wills. Gun Hill clothing is one of our personal faves and they have two shops in Burnham, one of which is a country outfitter. There is also The Hat Shop, Gilly’s, Urban Armour, Raliegh Goss. There is also the new Tapping House Charity Shop.

There is also a lovely bookshop for you to get lost in, The Brazenhead Book Shop.

There are so many places to explore by foot from Burnham Market, here are a few:

The Burnhams Circular Walk

Burnham Overy Staithe walk
